Srinagar: Pall of gloom descended in the outskirts of Srinagar City when a labourer died due to asphyxiation while digging a well.
Police sources said that two labourers Mohammad Saleem Khan and Abdul Rashid Paloo were busy in digging well at Sikandarpora, Rainawari on Thursday morning.
Abdul Rashid felt unconscious and sensing trouble Mohammad Saleem jumped into the well to drag him out. Surprisingly, while dragging Rashid out, Saleem himself felt unconscious and died on spot, a police official told CNS adding that Saleem might have inhaled poisonous gas which emanated while digging the well
The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Saleem Khan son of Ghulam Mohammad Khan of Chaudary Bagh, Rainawari.
