JAMMU – Two junior engineers of Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Department have been dismissed on charges of securing their jobs on the basis of fake sports certificates, said officials on Friday.
The duo, Pallav Gupta and Sagar Kumar, have also been booked on charges of committing cheating and forgery, they said.
Gupta and Kumar had managed to secure their appointment orders in PDD as junior engineers against sports quota in 2017 and 2018 respectively, they said.
Interestingly, they had managed to secure their jobs reserved for sports champions of national and international level competitions despite never having played any game even at school level, the officials said.
Jammu Crime Branch has registered criminal cases against Gupta and Kumar for cheating and committing fraud and forgery after J&K Power Transmission Corporation Limited’s chief engineer dismised them from the job and lodged complaint against them with police.
The General Administration Department had recommended the case along with their enquiry report to the Crime Branch to lodge FIR against them.
