Srinagar: With a view to provide adequate skilled manpower to the Health Institutions of the State, the Government has enhanced paramedical training seats to 2358 against the existing capacity of 968.
This was stated by Minister of State for Health, Shabir Ahmad Khan during his interaction with various deputations from Kashmir and Jammu provinces, who met the Minister and put forth demands of upgradation of health care facilities in their respective areas here today at Civil Secretariat.
Giving details, the Minister said that for the first time new paramedical courses like Operation Theater Technician, Anesthesia Assistant and ECG assistant are being introduced in Auxiliary Nursing Training Schools of the State. He said in this regard 180 seats in each faculty have been created and the trainings to these courses would be started during current session.
The Minister said that to facilitate the students in the paramedical trainings in their home districts, the government is going to establish ANM and GNM school in all the districts in phased manner. He said at present the construction work on 7 ANM and GNM Schools in the districts of Bandipora, Budgam, Pulwama, Kargil, Kishtwar, Reasi, and Akhnoor are apace at a cumulative cost of Rs. 24.58 crore against which Rs. 22.95 have been released by the Centre and State Governments. He said the construction work on ANM and GNM Schools of Ramban, Shopian, Kulgam and Udhampur districts would be taken up shortly.
The Minister said that on the request of State Government, the Centre has also given nod for establishment 5 more ANM and GNM Schools in the State. He said under this approval ANM Schools would be opened in Anantnag, Bhaderwah and Kathua and GNM schools in Ganderbal and Doda Districts.
The Minister said he Government was committed to provide hassle free and quality healthcare facilities to the people and in this regard numerous innovative initiatives have been taken during last over 4 years with the liberal financial assistance of Central Government especially under NRHM. He said upgradation of health infrastructure and ensuring quality health care to the people with main focus on healthcare of pregnant mother, neonatal and infants was receiving keen attention of the government adding that now the pregnant mothers would get free Medicare and transportation facilities. Government has targeted cent percent deliveries in government health institutions this year and for the purpose all necessary facilities are being improved in rural health institutions to ease rush to tertiary hospitals, Minister said. We are taking due care of infants in the hospitals by establishing New Born Care Units at Community Health Center level and it will also be introduced at Primary Health Center level in the near future, he said.
Shabir said that efforts are on to provide Specialist Doctors in all major rural hospitals to reduce load on tertiary hospitals.
Responding to the demands of the deputationists for opening of health centers in remote and hilly areas, the Minister said government is going to establish 600 new Sub Health Centers in the State and due consideration would be given while opening of these health centers to remote and hilly areas.
