SRINAGAR- The Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry would provide funds to the State government for establishment of modern Drug Testing Laboratory of International standard at Srinagar and asked the State government to identify alternate land for the purpose to create necessary infrastructure well in time.
This was apprised by Union Joint Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, Dr. A.K.Ponda to the Minister of State for Health, Mr. Shabir Ahmad Khan during his meeting with him held at Civil Secretariat last evening.
The meeting was also attended by Drug Controller General, India, Dr. G. N. Singh, besides other Senior Officers of Union Health Ministry and State Health Department.
During the meeting several issues related to strengthen of Drug and Food Testing Laboratories besides ensuring supply of quality drugs in the State were discussed and decisions were taken for immediate strengthen of the existing Drug and Food Testing infrastructure in the State.
The Health Minister said that State government has already mooted Programme Implementation Plan (PIP) to the Centre for release of funds for strengthen the necessary infrastructure in drug testing Labs at Srinagar and Jammu and urged for its early approval. He assured that alternate land for setting up of modern Lab of international standard at Srinagar would be identified and a proposal for sanction of funds would be submitted to the Union Health Ministry soon.
The Minister also informed the Central team about the several measures taken by the State government for improvement of healthcare facilities in the State under State and Centre Plans.
