Dr. Manohar pays surprise visits to Bazar, announces Rs. 10 lakh for renovation
Srinagar July 17: Minister of State for Finance, Planning and Cooperatives, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma, today paid surprise visit to Super Bazar Lal Chowk and took stock of the transactions of the Bazar.
The Minister went round the stalls and inquired about the business and response of the consumers.
The Minister was told that the business of the Bazar has swelled to Rs. 5 crore during last year which is expected to cross Rs 7 crore this year.
It was given out that 5 to 50 per cent rebate is being offered on the items sold in the Bazar which included daily eatables, kitchen appliances, bedding, furnishing, furniture and stationary items.
The Minister asked the management to utilize the available space judiciously and decorate the Bazar properly. He asked them to introduce electronic items like TV, Refrigerators and Washing machines having vast potential in the market.
The Minister instructed the management to launch a publicity campaign to aware people about the facilities and the rebate available in the Bazar. He asked them to explore the possibility for opening of more such Units in the city.
The Minister also announced release of Rs. 10 lakh for renovation of the Bazar and directed management to carry out necessary renovation of the Bazar within a months time.
Joint Registrar Cooperatives, Syed Mufi deen and senior Congress leader S. Surinder Singh Channi were accompanied the Minister.
