Srinagar – First White Water Rafting challenge would commence on the waters of river Lidder at Yennar in Pahalgam on September 17.
In a statement issued here, a spokesman said that numbers of teams including JK Police, Anantnag, KROA, Srinagar, Travel agents Association of Kashmir and other teams have confirmed their entry.
He added that the competitions would be held as marathon and sprint events. The main aim for going through with this championship is to promote and develop white water sports in the state and inculcate a spirit of this scintillating sport among local youth.
He said that commercial rafting is becoming increasingly popular among the tourists. It has become a part of their itinerary. It is considered one of the best recreational activities for them, he added
