SRINAGAR: Shakeel Ahmed Kasana, who died in the Batmaloo grenade blast on Wednesday, was a dreaded militant, police said said today.
According to police sources, Kasana was a close aide of Salahuddin and his bodyguard during his PaK stay.
Kasana returned to this part of Kashmir in 2003 and he was having close affiliation with dreaded Hizb militants like Mushtaq Killer aka Jangi and Ghulam Nabi War, police said.
He was the right hand of Hizb militant, Mushtaq Killer, who was gunned down by 5 RR and SOG in a joint operation at Gutli Bagh Ganderbal while his another close associate Ghulam Nabi War was killed in an encounter with 24 RR at Hayen Palapora area of Kangan, police said.
Kasana was arrested by Pantha Chowk police in December 2012 and booked under PSA.
He was a dreaded militant who was wanted in different cases of arson, murder and blast, police said. CNS
