Govt Hires Hunters to Eliminate Ferocious Stray Animals

SRINAGAR: Forest Minister Mian Altaf Wednesday said that Department of Wildlife Protection has hired skilled hunters to hunt down the ferocious wild animals. No one can control wild animals and I appeal people to protect themselves from these ferocious animals, Mian Altaf was quoted as saying.
He said that people should not every time rely on the government. People are expecting that department officials should always be present on spot and eliminate ferocious animals which is not possible. Whenever we get information in the nick of time, we act and eliminate such man-eaters, he said.
Mian Altaf said people should understand wild animals can not be controlled and there is a need to take protective measures to save themselves from them. We have hired skilled hunters and all those man-eaters would be eliminated who emerge in residential areas and attack people, he told local news gathering agency CNS.
New Safety Measures
Meanwhile in order to avoid man-animal conflict near villages falling at the foot hills of forests and other human habitations, the Department of Wildlife Protection has informed the general public particularly people residing near forests to take necessary precautions while visiting their fields for day to day work.
They should remain extra cautious and take safety measures especially during morning and evening hours and should restrict the movement of their children towards the nearby first areas, the Wildlife Protection Department has said.
Taking such type of precautions has become necessary due to the observed movement of wild animals especially black bears towards nearby villages in the forest areas for search of food in orchards and kitchen gardens.
To deal with such conflicts, the Department of Wildlife Protection have also established Control Rooms in every district and on the notice of the movement of any wild animal in habitations, it shall be brought to the knowledge of the Department. They should also inform Control Rooms for immediate action to safeguard the lives of people, it said.
It is worth to mention here that in recent past, dozens of persons fell victims to wild animal assaults with three persons including two minors were killed in past one week alone.
