Srinagar: In a shocking incident, a three-year-old girl and a youth on Monday evening were attacked and seriously injured by a dog in Shalimar area of Srinagar while they were walking towards their home.
Three-year-old Masooma, daughter of Mohammad Maqbool of Hyderiya Colony Shalimar was walking towards home with other children when a pack of stray dogs attacked her.
Locals said the inhabitants came for rescue when they heard the screams and cries of the child, but till then the dogs had bitten her seriously. Her face was bloodied by the time people came to help, the locals said, adding that she was rushed to a medical facility in Srinagar for treatment.
Similarly, a youth Wajahat son of Saleem Bhat was bitten by a stray dog late Monday evening. The youth was immediately rushed to SMHS hospital for treatment.
Pertinently, stray dogs in Srinagar’s old city had chased a minor Omar Farooq, 10 to death, a few months ago. Omar had jumped into the river and drowned.
