Srinagar: State Home Department is tight lipped over the contents of probe report into the killing of Baramulla youth Tahir Ahmed Sofi.
Last month Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Manzoor Ahmad Qadri had submitted his report regarding probe into the killing of Tahir Ahmad Sofi to the Government.
ADC Baramulla said that he cannot share the details of the report and cant say who has been held responsible for the killing of the youth. Deputy Commissioner Baramulla told CNS that he did not go through the report. I send it to Home Department the very moment I received it and I didnt even opened it up, he said.
Additional Secretary Home said that he is not authorized to speak on the report.
When contacted Prinicipal Secretary Home, Suresh Kumar said that he has not received any copy of the report. Which report you are talking about? I have not received any copy of the report so far, Kumar said.
Tahir Rasool Sofi, the 26-year-old student from Old town Baramulla, was killed on March 5 this year after Armymen fired at a group of youth who were protesting against Forces atrocities in the area.
The family of Tahir Rasool Sofi had earlier rejected the ex-gratia relief of Rs 6 lakhs announced by the state government and instead sought an impartial probe into Tahirs killing.
