SRINAGAR: Chairman Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani on Saturday hailed people of Kashmir Valley for observing a complete strike in memory of martyrs of July 13, 1931.
Mission of martyrs is unfinished and incomplete and people have shown that they have neither forgotten their mission nor have they accepted horse trading by pro-Indian parties, Geelani was quoted as saying by a spokesman.
The octogenarian leader described laying of flower wraths by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, PDP patron Mufti Sayeed and other pro-Indian parties over the graves of martyrs as hypocrisy.
Had their conscience been alive, they would have at-least felt shy in visiting the graveyard because they are committing more atrocities on people of Kashmir than Dogra rulers of 1931, he said, according to KNS.
Nothing has changed in Kashmir. People here used to shoulder coffins of their children in 1931 and today in 2013, incidents like Markundal (in Bandipora where army alleged killed two youth recently) continue to happen. If there has been a change, its that then Hari Singh committed the atrocities and today every pro-Indian leader is acting like Hari Singh.
Geelani said that the martyrs laid their lives for dignity and adoration of Holy Quran and against tyrant rule of Dogra regime.
To remember the martyrs of 31, Geelani said that the amalgam is holding a seminar at his Hyderpora residence on 15 July. The seminar titled Martyrs of July 31… Mission Incomplete will begin from 10:30 AM to 2 PM, he added.
