SRINAGAR – Hurriyat Conference leader Professor Abdul Gani Bhat on Saturday rebutted media reports that claimed a petition has been filed by him in the Delhi High Court seeking that MPs from Jammu and Kashmir be stopped from entering parliament.
“My father is unwell for over a month now. He has not moved any petition before any court. The media reports claiming so, are totally baseless and fabricated,” Bhat’s son Jehangir told Kashmir Observer.
Jehangir, who is working president of Muslim Conference, was referring to a news report carried by a New Delhi based wire agency that claimed Bhat had moved a plea in the Delhi High Court seeking that MPs from the “erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir”, who were allegedly illegally continuing to hold their seats after disbanding of the state, be stopped from entering the Parliament.
“It may be an ally or an NGO affiliated to BJP that have filed this petition. My father doesn’t have interest in such activities,” Jehangir said, adding “My father’s name is being unnecessarily dragged to create a controversy. The report attributed to my father is far from truth,”
