Srinagar – The Muttahida Ulama-e-Ahl-e-Sunnat (MUAS), a platform of a number of religious organisations, has called for a shutdown on Tuesday to protest against a blasphemous film on Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said to have originated in the US.
In a statement issued after a meeting at the Karvan-e-Islami office, the conglomerate made an appeal to the Bar Association, traders federations, transport unions and students bodies to make the strike successful.
Anti-Islam forces have always been committing such acts, a spokesman said, referring to the derogatory film.
They aim to accustom Muslims to such obscene attacks on Islam, but perhaps forget that Muslims can tolerate anything, but will give their lives to protect the dignity and honour of their religion, he said.
It is incidents like the film that give birth to the Osama Bin Ladens of the world, who then carry out devastating attacks against the US, he said.
The conglomerate has convened a key meeting of all its constituents at the Karvan-e-Islami headquarters on Monday to chart out a strategy to expose anti-Islam conspiracies. Observer News Service
