SRINAGAR: Mohammad Ashraf Mir has taken over as president of Federation Chamber of Industries Kashmir (FCIK).
He succeeds Zahoor Ahmad Bhat who successfully completed his tenure of two years.
Mir, a Science Graduate, was Senior Vice President of the organisation in the previous term. He has successfully served as President of Industrial Association Sanat Nagar and SICOP Unit Holders Association in his previous assignments. Ashraf Mirs services to the industrial development in Kashmir both as a successful entrepreneur as well as the fraternity leader are widely recognized.
Syed Afaq Qadiri was elected as Senior Vice President while Mohammad Yousuf Techo bagged the post of Vice President.
Nazir Ahmad Shikari, Er, Bashir Ahmad Khan and Makhmoor Gowhar were elected as Secretary General, Joint Secretary General and Secretary of the organisation respectfully. Altaf Ahmad has been re-elected as Secretary Finance.
One of the founder members of FCIK Meraj ud Din Qureshi showed magnanimity to serve the organisation as new Secretary Publicity.
The elections to valleys apex industrial chamber concluded on Tuesday with the declaration of the new team of office bearers. The FCIK is a coalescence of industrial associations in Kashmir province. The presidents or their representatives of industrial associations in organised estates, districts, and selected segments across the valley are elected for the Executive council who in turn elects their office bearers. The elections were held by three member election commission headed by Abdul Majid Khan with Syed Nazim-ud-Din and Iqbal Buch as its other members. While declaring the results of 68 Executive Council members and office bearers, the Chief Election Commissioner A.M Khan conveyed his gratitude to thousands of industrial entrepreneurs of the valley who extended cooperation in completing the process of elections for this most vibrant industrial body.
