NEW DELHI: Urging Kashmiri people not to expect any help from outsiders, Peoples Conference (PC) Chairman Sajad Gani Lone Tuesday said that Kashmir is our land and we all have to come forward to change our destiny. If people of Kashmir are thinking that somebody from outside would come and help them then they are wrong. We as a nation have to come forward and change the present redundant system. Youth must participate in electoral process if they want to change their destiny, Lone told Kashmir based news gathering agency CNS adding that from last six decades we have been witnessing changes of face only and not in system.
He said time has come that Kashmiris start dreaming beyond the political and economic limits designed by the National Conference and the People’s Democratic Party. We have to get rid from the present system prevailing in the State of Jammu and Kashmir to secure better future. The present system is based on nepotism, corruption and the political dividends of oppression and we must change it, Lone said.
While replying to a question Sajad Lone said that Election Boycott suited Kashmiri people for a particular period and now the time has come that people especially youth participate in electoral process on large scale. Boycott was used as a medicine to treat a disease and its prolong use proved detrimental. We have to avoid that medicine which could not cure us. I personally believe that election boycott is not going to help us in any way, he said adding that election boycott favours all the political parties.
Election Boycott re-established National Conference and invented Peoples Democratic Party and this time if there would be boycott that would certainly going to favour Congress and other parties. Election Boycott in Srinagar favours National Conference and similarly PDP takes advantage of boycott in Baramulla and Sangrama, Sajad Lone said.
He said that people should differentiate between good and bad and must oust those from power who have exploited them for their petty benefits. (CNS)
