SRINAGAR Noted urdu poet and educationist Akbar Jaipuri was remembered during a function held here at a unique indigenous cruise ride (Sraan Naav) near Char-Chinari of Dal Lake.
The function was organized by Commercial Broadcasting Service, Radio Kashmir Srinagar in collaboration with Akbar Jaipuri Memorial Committee.
The memorable and historical event was attended by renowned poets, scholars, writers, journalists, family members of late Akbar Jaipuri and other prominent personalities of the valley.
The function was inaugurated by president Adbi Markaz Kamraz, Dr. Aziz Hajni, while as well known poetess and Director, CBS, Radio Kashmir Srinagar, Ruksana Jabeen welcomed the guests. Grand Mufti, Jammu Kashmir, Mufti Muhammad Bashir-ud-Din presided over the function , while as prominent academic and Dean Academic Affairs, Prof AM Shah and noted historian , poet and literary figure, Muhammad Yusuf Teng were guests of honor on the occasion. The function conducted by Prof. Agha Syed Raza.
The evening started with traditional Kashmiri Kahwa. On the occasion president Adbi Markaz Kamraz, Dr. Aziz Hajni while remembering Syed Akbar Jaipuri said We must feel proud of him; such poets are assets for a nation. Jaipuri was God gifted Urdu poet and has contributed a lot to it.
He said more and more emphasis should be laid on to make the work of our own poets public.
Recalling the days, Muhammad Yusuf Teng said, There is no doubt, that Jaipuri sahib was a gifted Urdu poet. He had a flow and continuity in his literary work, he said.
The literary figures at the function urged the Jaipuri family and his friends to collect all his work in prose, so that people in Kashmir and Urdu readers get to know him as a prose writer as well.
At the function, Jaipuris book on Drama MIlap was also released.
Noted Kashmiri singer and composer, Qaiser Nizami enthralled the audience with his enchanting voice.
Traditional Kashmiri Wazwan was served on famous little island Chaar Chinari in dinner.
