Srinagar: Former High Court Judge and President J&K State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission Justice (Rtd) Bashir Ahmad Kirmani has said that the void of mistrust between the people of Valley and other parts of country can be filled by effective informal communication between the intellects of the Valley and those across the country.
There is a huge void of misunderstanding and communication gap between the people of Valley and other parts of the country. Frequent informal communication between the intellects of both sides will rectify this problem, B A Kirmani said.
He added To let peace sustain in the Valley and for the overall development in the region, it becomes imperative that this communication gap between the two sides be bridged.
Kirmani was speaking at the valedictory session of 62nd General Orientation Course which was organised by the Academic Staff College, University of Kashmir here on Monday.
Kirmani said the intellect and learned class, who are considered as pioneers of change in the society have a duty to mould the opinions of the people. Teachers in colleges and universities are the most important class in a society and they are duty bound to help their society grow and prosper in all sorts of positive directions.
Kirmani added that the fruits of sustained and effective communication between the intellects ultimately percolate down to the society at grass root level which helps in resolution of complex and multi-dimensional problems.
Speaking on the occasion, Director Academic Staff College, Prof. Farooq Fayaz said the main aim of such courses and programs is to encourage the newly appointed faculty members of different colleges and universities from and across the state to gain excellence in their respective fields and to improve upon their research and academic pursuits.
Teachers teaching in the universities and colleges other than the role of imparting education have a much bigger responsibility to make a society a knowledge society. Orientation programs are necessary to channelize their knowledge in the right direction, Farooq Fayaz said.
Professor Farooq Fayaz briefed the participants about the functioning of ASC and made the participants aware of contemporary teaching techniques and said that the teaching techniques have evolved over the years and with advent of modern gadgets and techniques, teaching has become more student friendly than ever before.
