Srinagar: Just a day prior to their bi-annual examination, class XII students of Bright Horizon Higher Secondary Institute Humhama are in deep distress as they are not able to get the roll number slips required to appear in the examination. The students claim they have fulfilled all the formalities including submitting examination forms and depositing the fee as per the Board regulations but the school clerk is absconding.
Careers of six students, four boys and two girls, of Bright Horizon institute have been jeopardised as the school clerk, Showkat Ahmad Malla, who is meant for discharging Board related duties had not forwarded the examination forms of these students to Board of School Education.
We had submitted the examination forms to school authorities in due time along with exam fee but as we approached for roll number slips, we were shocked to hear that school authorities had not forwarded our forms to the Board of School Education, said a student Ubaid Ahmad, crying bitterly.
As we approached the Board of School Education, the officials categorically told us that our children cannot appear in the examination as the school administration has not forwarded your examination forms, said Ghulam Rasool, a parent.
Acting Principal, Bright Horizon Institute, confirmed that the school didnt receive the admit cards of the students appearing in bi-annual exam as the clerk had not forwarded their forms. He is absconding for a week along with the fee amount of students of other classes as well, he said.
When contacted PRO JKBOSE, Showkat Ahmad, said there is only one day left for examinations and the board cannot sort out the problem in a day. The whole mess lies within the school administration, he said.
He said the board had already issued roll number slips to all the concerned school authorities on time These students cannot appear in examination at any cost, he confirmed.
Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Front, Imtiyaz Ahmad, said the school itself was responsible for harming the career of the students. The need of the hour is to take steps to save the career of these students, said Imtiyaz.
When contacted Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK), Tariq Mir, said strict action would be taken against the school authorities.
For the sake of these students, I will request Chairman JKBOSE to figure a way out, so that they dont lose one precious year, said Mir.
Meanwhile, parents of the students have appealed Chairman JKBOSE and the Education Minister to look into the matter.
