SRINAGAR – Hurryiat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani has called for a complete shutdown on Monday, July 1, to protest against the killing of two youth in Sumbal area by Indian army.
Hurriyat spokesman said that the party chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, has appealed people to observe complete shutdown on Monday.
Mohammad Irfan and Irshad Ahmad were killed by army during night and early Monday, respectively.
Protests On
Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent of Police Bandipora, was injured in the ongoing clashes between men in uniform and the protesting people in Markundal, village of Sumbal area after the killing of two youth by army.
Irfan Ahmad Ganai, 18 was killed when Rashtrya Rifles men during an ambush fired upon him outside his house in Markundal. Army had reached the village in private vehicles. The incident took place Saturday, late night.
When on early Sunday, people heard about the incident they took to streets and raised anti army and anti India slogans. The army allegedly fired upon the protesters killing one more youth. He was later on identified as Irshad Ahmad Dar, of Kondebal Safapora. Irshad, was shifted to hospital in critical conditions were he succumbed.
