SRINAGAR: A delegation of the office bearers of the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry called on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and presented a charter of demands that includes return of power projects to the state and operation of international flights from Srinagar airport.
Mr. Sheikh Ashiq Ahmad, Sr. Vice President, Mr. Mauzam Bakshi, Jr. Vice President, Mr. Javid Ahmad Tenga, Jt. Secretary General, Mr. Musadiq Shah, Treasurer headed by its President, Mr. Abdul Hamid Punjabi met Prime Minister on a pre-appointed time at SKICC, Srinagar, a KCC&I statement said.
The delegation put up a detailed memorandum to the Honble Prime Minister with the following points vehemently pleaded for:-
Transferring back the NHPC controlled power houses Salal, Dulhasti, Uri to the State immediately for sustained economic development of the State;
Chartered International and Domestic flights for high profile tourist be allowed to be operated and the Sheikh-ul-Alm Airport be made fully operational to handle the international flights under a proper schedule to help the Kashmir Tourism to reap the due gains;
Packages be extended to J&K to be specially Kashmir-centric packages keeping in view the damages and losses suffered by Kashmir Trade, Commerce, Industry and Tourism during the last 20 years; and
To revive the Committee to consider lifting of ban on the Shahtoosh.
The Prime Minister assured the delegation that due attention shall be given to the demands made by it, the statement read.
