Srinagar: Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi visited the injured soldiers of Army undergoing treatment at the Base Hospital, Badami Bagh Cantonment during their visit to Kashmir on 25 Jun 2013.
They met all the injured soldiers personally and lauded the supreme sacrifices of the martyrs. They were accompanied by Omar Abdullah, Chief Minister of J&K, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Cabinet Minister of Health and Family Welfare and Ambika Soni, Member Rajya Sabha.
The Prime Minister and the UPA Chairperson were received by Lt Gen Gurmit Singh, the Chinar Corps Commander at the Base Hospital who briefed the dignitaries about the condition of the injured soldiers and the yeomans service being rendered by the hospital towards the health services of the troops and Valley at large.
The dignitaries visited the ICU as well as the Surgical ward and met each of the injured soldiers with great warmth. The PM and the UPA Chairperson enquired about the health of every soldier and praised them for their bravery and dedication in the service of the nation.
The Prime Minister while expressing his deepest sense of compassion towards the soldiers said that I am proud of what Army is doing for the service of the nation.
During his interaction with soldiers he wished them a speedy recovery and he further added that he has been to the Base Hospital earlier also and is aware about the great service that hospital is rendering towards the health services of the soldiers and the awaam of Kashmir.
He presented gifts to the injured soldiers and interacted with them very intimately. Omar Abdullah, the Chief Minister of J&K, who was accompanying the delegation, also enquired about the well being of the families of the soldiers and commended them for their courage and bravery.
