SRINAGAR – Urging the Government of India to start immediate talks with all sections in Jammu and Kashmir for a just and peaceful resolution, Centre for Policy Analysis (CPA), New Delhi, has recommended the release of all the political prisoners and rehabilitation of all the widows and half-widows.
The group headed by noted journalist and social activist, Seema Mustafa has said the process of demilitarisation in Kashmir should begin without any delay and the government must withdraw AFSPA, PSA and other draconian laws.
The important recommendations made by CPA includes resettlement of Kashmiri Pandits, fast-track courts, setting up hospitals for women to treat both physical and mental ailments in Srianagar and other towns of Jammu and Kashmir, initiation of judicial enquiries in all major encounters and deaths in police firing in the last three years, launch of special recruitment drives for Navratna public sectors for the youth of the Valley, earmarking of seats for students of the Valley in All India Entrance examinations conducted by CBSE for Medical colleges and IIT JEEs etc and appointment of a permanent high powered committee of parliamentarians to oversee Kashmir and the implementation of the recommendations as a first step.
The CPA has recommended that an impartial judicial commission be set up to probe the deaths of the one hundred twelve youths killed in 2010.
