SRINAGAR: Police on Tuesday foiled the march to Pratap park called by Separatist leader Shabir Ahmad shah against the alleged human rights violations by arresting Shabir ahmad shah,Nayeem ahmad Khan and other Hurriyat leaders. The detained leaders were lodged at sadder Police station in Srinagar.
According to news agency KNS separatist leaders and their workers assembled near residence of Shabir Ahmad shah and tried to march towards Partab Park. However a heavy contingent of police and CRPF detained them.
Eyewitness said police informed Shabir Ahmad shah that they could not go ahead with the procession, However Hurriyat leader refused to budge. This promoted police to take them into custody.
Meanwhile Shabir Ahmad shah addressing public at Santnagar here urged people to observe a complete shutdown on 25 of June when Prime minster is scheduled to visit Kashmir and said putting leaders under house arrest, harassing party workers depicts the helplessness of the government before the people’s aspirations.
He added, The claims of democracy and freedom of expression have fallen flat and it shows how much the government is scared of the freedom sentiment.
The Indian Prime Minster Manmohan Sing had said that they will not tolerate human rights violation but violation is everywhere in Kashmir.
Asiya and Neelofar were raped and murdered but nothing was done against the culprits. We will never forget our sisters. Nor have we forgotten the Kunan Poshpora case and we will never forget all those incidents which took place with our sisters in Kashmir,saidShah.
Shah alleged that the prime minster is a mute spectator to these violations and said that a complete strike would be observed on June 25.
Meanwhile Senior Hurriyat leader Nayeem Ahmad Khan said the peace in subcontinent would continue to be a farfetched dream until Kashmir issue was resolved in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of its people.
Addressing public at Santh Nagar , khan said As long as rights violations continue to take place and the armed forces are not held accountable, peace and stability in the region would remain a far-fetched dream.
In Kashmir, violations are overlooked. People are increasingly losing faith governance, Khan said.
Khan added I assure people that your sacrifices will not go waste and the torch of resistance will continue to remain burning until the sun of freedom rises,
Concerned over the continued detention and deteriorating health of incarcerated pro-freedom leaders and activists in different jails, Khan demanded their immediate release.
The leaders of the amalgam who were arrested with Shabir Ahmad shah included Nayeem Ahmad Khan,Javid Ahmad Mir,Ahsan Antu Mohammed yousf naqash.(KNS)
