Directs construction of 4000 sanitary units in the District
SRINAGAR – Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Ali Mohammad Sagar today conducted an extensive tour of Budgam district to oversee the implementation of various flagship schemes besides conducting Awami Darbar at different places across the district.
The Minister while interacting with the scores of deputations across the district directed the officers to ensure that the pace of various developmental works undertaken by the Government is sped up so that the people get benefits from these. He also appealed the people to actively involve themselves in implementation of these welfare schemes so that an effective feedback is got about the same and the need based and holistic development of these areas is ensured.
Sagar also directed the officers to construct 4000 individual house hold sanitary units in the district and maintained that under Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan a budget of Rs.56 crore has been approved for undertaking the construction of these in the State so that the environmental pollution can be checked and the villages of the State get healthy hygienic conditions. He also announced playground at Narbal besides taking up the work on shopping line and sanitary facilities at Kanihama Panchayat.
The Minister also took stock of the Panchayati Adalats and said that by settling issues at local level the disposal of justice will be ensured at their doorsteps. He said that by putting in place a vibrant Panchayati Raj System we have ensured the democratic decentralization of powers and people at the grass root level have been involved in day to day governance.
Sagar also asked the people to actively participate in MGNAREGA as the scheme has been instrumental in changing the socio-economic profile of people living in rural and far-flung areas of the State and directed the officers to ensure the benefit of this scheme percolate down to the genuine beneficiaries besides the scheme should also be converged with those of other departments to widen its scope. He said that an amount of Rs. 39 crore has been earmarked under the scheme for the district and every care should be taken to ensure its proper implantation.
The Minister also directed the officers to ensure proper and speedy implementation of the recently launched UMEED so that the people of the area get benefitted from this flagship scheme which has tremendous potential of employment generation.
The Minister was accompanied by the Director Rural Development Department, Kashmir, Mir Altaf Ahmad and other senior officers of various departments.
