SRINAGAR – Normal life remained crippled for the fourth successive day on Monday due to a strike in Shia dominated central Kashmir district of Budgam against killing of an Iranian Army general in a US airstrike on Friday.
However, public and private transport was plying normally in the district. Meanwhile, massive protests were reported in the border town of Kargil during the last 24 hours against the airstrike.
A police official said there was no restriction in any part of Budgam though security forces have been deployed in strength to maintain law and order.
Even though there was no strike call given by any group, shops and business establishments remained closed for the fourth successive day in Budgam against the killing of Qassem Suleimani.
Suleimani and several others were killed in the US drone airstrike when the local allies from Popular Mobilisation Units (PMU) were driving him from Baghdad airport on Friday morning.
