Pahalgam – Four youth from South Kashmirs Pulwamma district died after their vehicle plunged into Nallah Liddar near Nunwan. According to reports, five students from Pulwama district had gone to Pahalgam on Thursday evening. A police official said their Tavera vehicle (JK03C- 5947) skidded off the road near Nunwan after the driver lost control and fell into the Liddar stream.
Due to speedy waters all the youth and the vehicle were dragged away, however, one of the youth Aijaz Hasan Bhat from Phuchal Pulwana managed to come out of the stream safe, a police official said.
The official said one of the bodies was located 25 kilometers away from the scene of the accident. The incident occurred at 11:50 at the night and the rescue operation was started as soon as we got the information. Due to speedy waters and darkness it was a laborious task for us to trace all the bodies instantly, the police official said.
Fire and Emergency Service, police, Army personnel along with people took part in rescue operations and traced the bodies at different places including Langanbal, Aabshaar Park, Yenir and Akad Park.
The deceased have been identified as Bilal Ahmed Dar son of Abdul Ahad Dar resident of Lajoora, Mohammad Umar Ahangar son of Farooq Ahmed, Danish Bhat son of Mohammad Ayoub and Mohammad Latif Bhat son of Mohammad Akram all residents of Puchhal Pulwama.
A Pall of gloom descended on the families as the word spread about the accident in district Pulwama. Hundreds of people from Pulwama boarded vehicles and reached the spot of accident, trying to play a part in rescue operations.
