SRINAGAR – A Kashmiri student was detained by police from Udaipur over a social media post on the recently passed Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
Mudassir Lone, a third-year BTech student at S S College of Engineering in Udaipur was picked up by police after he put out a post over CAA on his Instagram, The Indian Express reported.
Lone’s friend Imran Manzoor told the newspaper that the situation went out of control after Lone refused to apologize to the Insta post when asked by other college students.
“Then on Wednesday evening, students then manhandled him. Subsequently, Lone was summoned by the warden over the post he had put out on Tuesday,” Manzoor said.
“The local police and the MD took him inside a room… The police then handcuffed him and took him away,” Manzoor told The Indian Express.
Udaipur SP K C Bishnoi told the newspaper that the student was taken for investigation but no case was made out against him and thus released.
