Srinagar: In an apparent move to mint money from hapless parents, one of the private schools in Srinagar has issued a circular asking parents to arrange six different uniforms for six days.
The irony is that parents have been directed to purchase all these uniforms from a particular shop located at Residency road Srinagar.
Under the garb of imparting education, Srinagar British School has invented an innovative method to mint money from the parents. The school has issued a circular vide reference number 16 dated 27-5-2013 directing parents to purchase six colours of different uniforms for six days from a particular shop. As per the circular, green uniform has been selected for Monday, white for Tuesday, yellow for Wednesday, navy blue for Thursday, track suit for Friday and red colour for Saturday.
One of the parents Syed Abdul Buvais told CNS that his two daughters are studying in Srinagar British School and he has to buy 12 uniforms for them. The school changed the uniform in October 2012 and now I have received a new circular whereby students have to wear a new uniform of different colours on different days of the weak, he said adding that as per the circular the uniforms have to be strictly brought from a particular vendor.
I have contacted Directorate office and hope the Director Education will take action against the school authorities, he said.
When contacted, Director Education Kashmir, Mir Tariq said that he will look into the matter. He however, expressed anguish over the diktat and said that a stern action will be taken against the school.
I am hearing it from you. Parents should have come to me. This is unfortunate and cannot be tolerated. We will take action against the school if the allegations are true, the Director said.
Meanwhile, the Principal the School, M.S.Hussain said that he met Director Education in this regard and the school have decided to decrease the number from 6 to 3. However, parents allege that no such relaxation has been given to them while the school has kept its circular intact.
Pertinently Delhi Public Schools too are following the same line asking students to purchase uniforms from their designated business outlets only. (CNS)
