We are daily wagers of GoI, dont have right to use honble title
SRINAGAR: Days after Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) MLA from Sangrama, Basharat Bukhari moved a privilege notice against independent MLA Engineer Sheikh Rashid, speaker of the Assembly Mubark Gul has written a letter to the latter asking him to explain his position.
We have processed the privilege notice of Mr. Bukhari and have at first instance sought Mr. Rashids point of view, s senior officer in the Assembly Secretariat said. He said that Rashid has been given a weeks time for reply.
Meanwhile, Rashid said that the Government of India and its democratic system has already discredited the democratic institutions in Jammu and Kashmir Therefore the matter of privilege for all the elected representatives of the state has lost the meaning, he said.
Yes I received the letter from Speaker, but let me tell you that Mr. Bukhari has misunderstood the context of the statement. The interviewer asked me, why I often raise issue pertaining to other constituencies and ignoring the problems of my own constituency, he said and added that he made a comparison of different constituencies of his home district Kupwara only and he stands by that.
I have checked the records in deputy commissioner Kupwara office, and have ample proof that crores of CDF have been kept unspent only to use them at election time to buy voters in Kupwara district, he alleged.
Even Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and senior PDP leader Muzafer Hussain Beigh have confessed that we are daily wagers of India here. So why to use honorable title. I would request all not to use it for me at least, Rashid said.
