Apropos opinion, Faith Healers Or Fake Healers? by Er Tabish Reyaz Shah, Kashmir Observer, May 28, I agree that in Kashmir most of the persons who termed themselves as the faith healers are fake. The ones who never advertises and whom the public know are a rarity. They are the ones who are working for the betterment of people. We should always keep in mind that these so-called dervishs are only minting money from the ignorant Kashmiris. We must understand that it is our moral duty to expose these culprits, so that we can save our society from these fraudsters, who are hell bent upon to destroy the legacy of our rich tradition.
This is not for the first time in Kashmir valley that such shameless incidents happened but earlier as well as we all known aged faqir was caught by the people for sexually assaulting a minor girl. The people should remain more vigilant when in their locality; a pir or a faqir emerges. They should first of all enquire about their antecedents and afterwards take the necessary action.
The Kashmir valley has a history of rich cultural heritage. It has been blessed with great Sufi saints and religious preachers. It is not only our responsibility but the top most priority of our leaders as well to preserve it for the generations to come; otherwise if we dont pay any heed to these kind of shameless dervishes, the time is not too far when our tradition will vanish in thin air.
