SRINAGAR-A colourful cultural programme depicting rich folk forms of Kashmiri music and theatre was held at Chinar Bagh here Thursday evening.
Organized by J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages jointly with the Tourism department, the evening was part of the ongoing 2-month long Kashmir Folk Festival that started on May 4 at Pahalgam.
The Festival features weekly cultural events comprising Bhand Paether, Dhambali and Chhakri at Pahalgam, Gulmarg, Verinag, Achhabal, Kokernag, Zabarwan Park and Chinar Bagh where prominent folk theatre groups and singers perform before large audiences.
In all, 56 programmes will be held.
At Chinar Bagh today, Sheesh Mahal Folk Theatre, Beerwah presented Bhand Paether, Dhambali Dance Centre, Zolva Budgam performed Dhambali and Ghulam Muhammad Ahangar and Party sang Chhakri.
A large number of people witnessed the cultural evening and gave big applause to the performing artists.
