SRINAGAR: To reduce Man-Animal conflict in the state a new low cost methodology is being tried and introduced in the state. For the purpose people have already been trained in high conflict villages of Rajouri, Poonch, Kishtwar, Uri, Limbar, Kazinag and Dara Mulnar areas. The local villagers and wildlife besides forest staff were demonstrated and trained for using the low cost organic fencing to keep away the wild animals like bears and leopards from entering these high conflicting human habitations.
This methodology has already been successfully practiced in the state of Assam, West Bengal, Karnataka, Orissa and Tamil Nadu. Low cost replents like, Bhudh Jhalkal (hottest red chilli), Brunt Mobile, Jute Bags, Cow dung etc are being used which keeps such wild animals away from the villages.
Also some seismic sensors (advance warning system), camera traps and oxilators shall be used in near future to reduce the Man-Animal Conflict.
