Ambulances In Valley Sans Critical Care Equipment

SRINAGAR: Medical Education Minister Taj Mohi-u-Din Monday admitted that scores of ambulances were lying in the hospitals while no critical care equipment has been purchased for them so far.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has probably constituted an inquiry committee to investigate why Ambulances were purchased before hand without critical care equipments. These ambulances are specialized ones which are usually equipped with all sort of facilities.

He said that there is no shortage of life saving drugs in hospitals. He said hospitals have been given permission to purchase drugs from markets if need arises. While talking to Srinagar based newsgathering agency CNS Taj Mohi-u-Din said that there are standing instructions that life saving drugs should be made available at any cost in all associated hospitals.

Refusing to comment on the Spurious Drug Scam, Taj said the ball is in the court of Crime Branch and High Court. It will be contempt of Court if I will comment on this issue. Let us wait for the Court verdict which will not spare the guilty, he said.

He said that irregularities that have taken place in Dental College Srinagar is being looked into and the Vigilance is probing the matter. I would have attached the Principal Dental College Srinagar but unfortunately I dont find any Principal. Even Dental College Jammu is working without the Principal, he said.

While replying to a question, Taj said that any pilgrim even after possessing medical certificate will not be allowed to proceed to Amarnath Cave if he fails in physical test. We have made it mandatory for every pilgrim to go for a physical test and we will send those Yatris back who will not qualify Physical test, he said adding that every pilgrim above 60 years shall have to go a physical test.
