Srinagar – Centre for the Study of Regional Development (CSRD), Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi in collaboration with Department of Geography & Regional Development, University of Kashmir, Srinagar is organizing a Workshop on theme Regions and Regionalism in India Issues and Concerns on 15th of this month .
Giving details Prof. M. Sultan Bhat said that noted panellists and experts in the field are participating in the panel discussion on the theme.
He said that the objective of present effort is to revisit on the issue of regionalism, federalism and nation state principles in the present Indian scenario for achieving harmonious and peaceful cooperation from regional communities towards balanced regional development.
It is also to identify the issues related to strengthening of disintegrating forces political, economic and cultural in the present situation based on case Studies from ( Jammu & Kashmir, North-Eastern states of India, Uttar Pradesh and Telengana) , Prof Bhat said.
He added that besides these it is also to To seek answers towards political cooperation through constitutional guarantee for strengthening the processes of federalism and devolution of powers to accommodate regional aspirations, culture, identity and balanced social and economic development.
