Srinagar: The State Government is likely to sign a MoU with Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) as consultant for preparation of a comprehensive Disaster Management Plan for Jammu and Kashmir.
This was stated at a high level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary, Mohammad Iqbal Khandey here on Thursday to take stock of the measures under implementation to face exigencies on account of natural calamities like earthquakes, floods, snow storms cloud bursts etc
It was informed in the meeting that engaged consultant will prepare and develop the State Disaster Management Plan within a period of nine months. It will also prepare an interim report on the implementation of emergency procedures for dealing with different scales of emergencies and disasters in the State. Moreover, it will also facilitate and conduct different workshops and community participation exercises to promote culture of preparedness and efficient response, relief and recovery across the State.
Chief Secretary also received detailed brief on the rehabilitation process underway in earthquake hit areas of erstwhile Doda District.
Financial Commissioner Revenue, Dr. Arun Kumar, Principal Secretary Planning and Development, B R Sharma, Principal Secretary Finance, B B Vyas and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
