SRINAGAR: India’s well-known legal luminary, historian and columnist AG Noorani on Wednesday questioned the veracity of the 2008 elections in Kashmir and alleged that it was rigged by security agencies.
“Security agencies played a role in the 2008 polls in Srinagar,” said Noorani, at a function held to release his book ‘Kashmir dispute – 1947-2012’.
Noorani said he has great respect for the people of Kashmir. My heart doesnt beat for India or Pakistan but have all my sympathies with the people of Kashmir who have suffered a lot, he said.
Noorani advocated former Pakistan President Parvez Musharafs four point formula for resolving the Kashmir dispute. I think the four point proposal should be followed. People of Kashmir should not trust or wait for implementation of UN resolutions, he added.
