SRINAGAR- A multi-dimensional visual art exhibition showcasing rare art pieces and ethno-cultural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir opened at Kashmir Haat here on Tuesday.
The fortnight-long exhibition features ethnic wear, calligraphy specimen, building architecture images and jewellery. Traditional Kashmiri musical instruments like Sarangi, Rabab, and Nutt etc have also been put on display.
The showcase, organised by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages on the eve of Kashmir Tourism Festival 2013, is aimed at highlighting the rich and diverse cultural heritage of the State.
Giving details Secretary Academy, Khalid Bashir Ahmad said that the stalls erected by the Academy have interesting pieces of ethno-cultural heritage on display, adding, articles like ethnic wear and rare building architecture photos would fascinate visitors. Stalls showcasing the rich traditions and traditional life of the people, usually with life-size mannequins in full traditional attire, however, were the main attraction of the exhibition with sub cultures like Kashmiri, Ladakhi, Pahari and Gojri coming up alive through these artificial models.
The opening day of the display attracted people in large numbers with women, and children thronging the stalls in big numbers.
The exhibition also featured a live demonstration of Kashmiri musical instruments like Rabab, Sarangi, Nutt, and Santoor.
