SRINAGAR – Governor Satya Pal Malik on Monday said Kashmir will see a new dawn after it achieves Union Territory status from November 1.
“Be a partner in building new Kashmir and for taking J&K forward,” he said talking to media persons on the sidelines of a function here.
He urged the youth in Kashmir to desist from causing unrest and play a constructive role in building the state.
“I want to ask the boys what they have achieved until now… they must take control of their state and take it forward now,” he said.
He also warned that the army will go deep inside and destroy militant camps in Pakistan Control Kashmir.
The Governor Malik said if Pakistan does not end militant activities directed against India, the Army will go deep inside and destroy “militant camps.”
“Pakistan will have to behave and stop these (militant) camps. If it does not behave, we will go deep inside and destroy these camps,” he said.
India will take stronger action than Sunday’s attacks on camps in Pakistan if it does not end activities directed towards India, he added.
“War is a bad thing, but if Pakistan doesn’t stop (militancy), our response will be stronger than what happened there yesterday,” Malik.
Army chief General BipinRawat on Sunday announced that four launch pads across the LoC were destroyed by the Indian Army and six to ten Pakistan soldiers were killed. He said an equal number of militants were also killed. Pakistan rejected the claim.
Remembering 292 security force personnel of different States, including 30 officers and policemen of Jammu and Kashmir Police, who were killed during the past one year, the Governor said that the “country is indebted to all these martyrs and will always remember their sacrifices for upholding the rule of law and ensuring safety and security of the people.”
He lauded the role of Jammu and Kashmir Police in countering militancy for the past over three decades and said that Jammu & Kashmir Police is among the best disciplined police forces in the country and has always exhibited a high standard of professionalism.
Maintaining that Government is aware of the multiple problems being faced by the J&K Police, the Governor said that the force is working in the most difficult circumstances fighting militancy in Jammu and Kashmir. He said Government will pay special attention to their all issues and take more steps for ensuring their welfare, including enhancement of compensation to the families of those killed, incentives to the SPOs etc.
Expressing solidarity with the families of the slain policemen, the Governor observed that the administration will attend to their problems on priority and ensure that benefits of all welfare schemes percolate to them without any kind of delay. He called upon the DGP, J&K and Deputy Commissioners of all districts to promptly attend to the issues of families of slain policemen, particularly those related to the rehabilitation and education of their children on priority so that they may not face any inconvenience.
