JAMMU – The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday registered FIRs against some engineers of the Jammu Kashmir Projects Constructions Corporation (JKPCC) and a private company for allegedly installing sub-standard lifts in various hospitals in the Valley, officials said.
The FIRs were registered on the basis of a complaint and connected documents received through the State Vigilance Commission, they said.
On scrutiny of the documents, it was revealed that JKPCC, during the year 2012-13, floated tenders for installation of 26 passenger bed lifts for district hospital Baramulla, JLNM Hospital Rainawari and L D Hospital Srinagar to be designed and installed by successful bidders as per standard specifications and codes, the officials said.
The tenders were finally allotted to Techno Industries Ltd, Ahmedabad through Ace Consultants Fateh Kadal Srinagar, they added.
The concerned authorities installed “B” category lifts instead of “A”category which resulted in huge loss to the state exchequer, the officials said.
It was also established that underrated and under specified equipments and components have been
installed in the lifts by the concerned company in connivance with the officials and engineers of mechanical unit of JKPCC, they added. The investigation of the case is underway.
