SRINAGAR: Parvez Rasool, the 24 year old J&K allrounder, was included in the Pune Warriors XI and became the first player from Kashmir to feature in an IPL match. He replaced legspinner Rahul Sharma. Warriors, however, lost the toss and were asked to field by Kolkata Knight Riders, who still have a mathematical interest in the game.
Knight Riders made two changes to their team. They brought in Manoj Tiwary, who missed a few matches due to injury, and Ryan ten Doeschate, who is playing for the first time this season, replacing Debabrata Das and Ryan McLaren. When asked if the team was motivated to end the tournament on a high, Gautam Gambhir said, ‘playing for KKR is a big enough motivation. If someone needs to look somewhere else for motivation, he shouldn’t be in the dressing room.’
Parvez had spend time on the sidelines for 12 matches finally found a place in the playing XI of Pune Warriors ahead of their match against Kolkata Knight Riders here.
The unassuming player from the valley shot to limelight with a seven-wicket haul against visiting Austrlians while playing for the Board President’s XI earlier this year.
