SRINAGAR, MAY 09:- Minister for Panchayati Raj and Rural Development, Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar has said that the Government has undertaken a comprehensive campaign for imparting skills to the youth of the State, so that they can create various self-employment avenues for themselves.
The Minister was speaking at the inauguration of the Course for Conducting Short Term Modular Courses under Skill Development Scheme for the unemployed youth organized by the Department of Technical education at ITI Bagh-i-Dilawar Khan in the old city, Srinagar.
Director Technical Education, Mr. J. P. Singh, District Development Commissioner, Mr. Farooq Ahmad Peer and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
The Minister said that the Government is aware of the problems being faced by the youth of the State and in this regard several initiatives like JKSKEWPY, EDI, and other related schemes have being launched, so that they can effectively create employment opportunities for themselves by setting up entrepreneurial units. He said that by doing so they can be effectively contributed their bit in boosting the economic and employment opportunities in the State.
Sagar said that by holding these types of courses 300 youth of the old city Srinagar would be imparted various skills development trades which include the newly introduced courses like Hospitality, Tourism etc. He said that since the State has vast potential of tourist related activities the students would easily get accommodated within the State and outside.
Earlier, the Minister while addressing officers during a review meeting convened to discussed the renovation and beautification of the Khankah-i-Moulla Shrine said that the Government has undertaken a comprehensive programme for the restoration of this world famous shrine on the heritage basis. He said that the officers of various Departments should work in close coordination to ensure that the same is implemented within the shortest possible time.
Sagar said that the requisite funds have already been earmarked and we have to ensure that the preservation of this shrine is ensured. He directed the officers of PDD Department to ensure that the requisite fire proofing and other related things are done which would ensure that it is saved from any electric mishap.
Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Farooq Ahamd Shah, Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation Mr. G. N. Qasba, Chief Engineer R&B, Mr. Mushtaq Ahmad Lone, SEs PDD, UEED, I&FC and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
While asking the Chief Engineer R&B to take the necessary acquisitions around the shrine and its catchments, the Minister said that the persons whose properties are acquired should be properly and adequately compensated. He also directed the Commissioner Municipal Corporation to ensure that the utilities are constructed for the convenience of the general public.
The Minister also directed the officers to ensure that the parks and the Ghats of the shrine are properly beautified, so that the devotees coming to pay their obeisance get benefitted from these.
Sagar also directed the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar to acquire the structures around the recently upgraded high school at Kalashpora and provide the necessary compensation to the persons.
