SRINAGAR: Amid protest demonstrations, complete shutdown was observed on Tuesday in Wuyen Bala village of Pampore in South Kashmir against the establishment of an Army camp in residential area.
Hundreds of people including women and students, Panchas and Sarpanch came on roads, raised anti-Army and anti-government slogans, and demanded immediate withdrawal of Army from the area.
Shops and business establishments remained closed while the work in schools affected badly.
The residents threatened of intensifying the agitation if the Army doesnt not change its plan.
Talking to CNS, Sarpanch Abdul Rahim said that all the people of the area were on roads and hold peaceful demonstrations. Though the Tehsildar visited the area and assured people that matter would be sorted out within three days, however, people continued their protest and strike, Sarpanch said.
One of the residents said that the occupied land falls in the residential area, and their daily life is bound to suffer. (CNS)
