SRINAGAR – A local court has extended the judicial remand till October 25 of Islami Tenzeem-e-Azadi (ITeA) chief Abdul Samad Malla alias Inquilabi, who was arrested in December last year for his anti national activities.
Meanwhile, police during the night intervening Thursday and Friday raided the Ganasthan, Bandipora residence of Inquilabi and arrested his 22-year-old nephew, a labourer. Inquilabi was recently sent to mental hospital, Srinagar on the recommendation of jail doctors.
Official sources said Inquilabi was produced before a local TADA court on Friday. However, his judicial remand was extended till October 25 as demanded by police.
Family members of ITeA chief said he was arrested in December 2018 in Pulwama district and later booked under Public Safety Act (PSA). However, his detention was quashed by the court and later he was booked under another case and shifted to Jammu jail.
His health conditions deteriorated in jail, they said, adding later he was admitted to mental hospital, Srinagar.
After court extended his remand, Inquilabi was again shifted to mental hospital as he was still not recognizing anyone, including his family members, they alleged.
Inquilabi has filed a case in Bandipora court demanding Rs ten crore for his frequent arrest without any justification during the past 25 years. (Agencies)
