SRINAGAR: Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Mr. Shalindar Kumar has asked the authorities of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to speed up the work on 4 -lane Jammu-Srinagar National Highway project and ensure that it is completed as per schedule. He instructed Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Pulwama, Anantnag and Ganderbal districts to monitor the progress of the work and take concerted measures for removing the impediments affecting the progress of the project.
Deputy Commissioners, Srinagar, Pulwama, Anantnag and Ganderbal districts, Chief Engineers, R&B Kashmir, Irrigation and Flood Control Department, Project Director, NHAI, Chief Engineer, BEACON besides senior officers of several line departments were present on the occasion.
Divisional Commissioner asked the officers to negotiate with the land owners whose land comes under the project and settle the claims so that work on the project is taken forward smoothly.
Urging for maintaining close inter-departmental coordination, the Divisional Commissioner directed officers to carry out joint visits with the officers of NHAI and BRO to settle the petty issues hampering the progress of the project. He asked them to set right all the irrigation canals and drinking water pipes damaged in the process. He asked them to ensure supply of drinking water through tankers till the damaged water pipes are repaired.
Roads being maintained by BEACON in Srinagar, Bandipora, Pulwama, Anantnag and Ganderbal also came up for the discussion and Divisional Commissioner asked BEACON authority to get all such roads repaired and upgraded as early as possible..
