Teachers Forum warns of agitation over delay in postings

Political interference biggest impediment: Wani.

SRINAGAR: Annoyed over the delay in posting for thousands of recently promoted masters, lecturers and headmasters Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum has warned government of agitation, if the postings were not completed within ten days. The Forum (JKTF) claimed that due to the delay in posting more than 40 officials including a Chief Education Officer, who was promoted as Joint Director have retired without joining the new postings which deprived them of the promotion benefits.

The academic calendar has already begun and more than three thousand lecturers and headmasters are waiting for their posting for last one and a half months, JKTF President Abdul Qayoom Wani said on Wednesday.

He accused Education department authorities of deliberately delaying the postings and claimed the political interference in the postings has been the biggest impediment in the process.

We will launch an agitation if the government fails to fulfill our demands within 10 days, he warned.

Pertinently more than four thousand teachers, masters, headmasters, ZEOs and CEOs were promoted under government order No. 825. However, due to unknown reasons, all of them are still waiting for their postings even after more than one and a half months. Sources in the Department said that there were 310 high schools without headmasters which has badly affected the normal work in the schools. 40 of them have already retired without joining the new postings, and this has deprived them of the benefits of the promotion. CEO Ganderbal was promoted as Joint Director but unfortunately could not join as he retired before he could join the new posting, Wani said.

Meanwhile none of the officers in the Education department, including Commissioner Secretary and Director School Education could be reached for comments despite repeated attempts. KNS
