SRINAGAR: Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Mr. Shailendara Kumar today chaired a meeting of officers to discuss the issues regarding availability and fixation of rates of mutton in the Valley. The mutton dealers informed Divisional Commissioner Kashmir that 26,000 sheep are imported to Valley from outside the State on weekly basis for supply of mutton to the consumers there is a gap between supply and demand.
Divisional Commissioner impressed upon the officers to give inputs regarding fixation and regulation of mutton rates in the Valley. He also stressed upon the officers to ensure adequate stocks of mutton should be made available to the consumers so that there should be no problem to the people on account of availability of mutton. He also desired that possibility for opening of a Sheep Mandi in Valley may also be explored so that sufficient provision of quality of mutton is ensured.
The meeting was attended, among others by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mr. Farooq Ahmad Shah, Director CA&PD, Kashmir, Mir Mushtaq and representatives of wholesale and retailer Mutton dealers.
