2 officials suspended for assisting khilafwarzi
SRINAGAR: Srinagar Municipal Corporation on Wednesday began the pro-pedestrian week. During the week all the encroachments on roadsides and footpath will be cleared up, Top SMC official said.
The week was organized immediately after Commissioner SMC Dr Qasba issued instructions in a meeting held extensively with all the senior most municipal officers, including all the ward officers of the Corporation along with their subordinate staff.
The major focus of the meeting remained at discussing and reviewing sanitation and encroachments at length. The Commissioner SMC Dr Qasba reviewed sanitation and the various steps taken for its improvisation at each ward level separately.
Dr Qasba said during the pro pedestrian week the enforcement wing has to put in all the efforts to make people feel comfortable while walking.
Taking a serious note on Khilafwarzis and promptly acting tough, Dr Qasba in a meeting placed two officials under suspension who were found indulging in khilafwarzi after receiving the complaints and confirming the same against the erring officials.
He instructed the Chief Enforcement Officer to keep a tight vigil and ensure that no illegal construction comes up anywhere in the city. We are not going to give any laxity to any such person including the ward officers and enforcement officers who are ignorant of their duties and are hand in glove in Khilafwarzis said Dr Qasba.
He further said that the ward officer shall be hold accountable in the first place in conducting such mischief.
