SRINAGAR Scores of contractors from Srinagar Municipal Corporation on Friday held a protest at press colony against SMC Deputy Mayor for leveling baseless allegations against them.
Farooq Ahmad Dar chairman JKPCCC said that the serious allegations were leveled against them by Deputy Mayor Srinagar Sheikh Mohammed Imran.
He said that first Deputy Mayor harassed doctors, then shopkeepers, then municipality employees and now he is harassing contractors. Deputy Mayor has broken all records of harassment even he is calling us thieves which is totally intolerable.
We demand release of work done payments and Mr Imran should apologize to Contractors publically as we are tax payers and we are not bank defaulters, whatever money we have is all white, he said. He said that we are on strike from last four days as SMC is failing to release our work done payments.
Dar further said yesterday a complaint was filed by Deputy Mayor against them without any reason following which almost 100 contractors were detained by police.
Later, police lodged FIR against seven contractors, now we have boycotted all developmental works and we are planning for dharna outside the residence of Deputy Mayor, till our payments are not released and action should be taken against Deputy Mayor Sheikh Mohammed Imran. We will knock the doors of Court if our demands are not met,” he added.
