SRINAGAR A residential house in Baghwanpora locality of Lal Bazar area here has partially caved in and developed cracks due to leakage in a damaged water supply pipeline, leading to pleas by the owner and local residents for measures to avert an imminent mishap.
According to Ghulam Mustafa, the leakage has damaged the basement of his house near Masjid- e- Imam Hussain(AS) besides causing cracks in walls.
Ghulam Mustafa told Kashmir Observer this was not the first breach in the pipeline as it had been damaged several times in the past well.
He said although PHE officials had rushed to the house for dewatering and repair of the pipeline, a permanent solution should be found to the issue as it poses grave risk to the lives and property of local residents.
Bhat urged the authorities to compensate him for the damage his house has sustained over the years due to the leaked pipeline.
Two families have already been compensated for the same issue but I am suffering due to mismanagement of PHE authorities. We are afraid that our house might come crashing down, he said, seeking immediate relief and redressal of the issue.
Local residents said they were apprehensive about the damage the damaged pipeline could cause to their homes. This is a grave issue and PHE should take immediate action before it causes some mishap in our locality, they said.
