SRINAGAR One militant was killed in a brief encounter with government forces at Watergam village in Rafiabad on Friday night.
Army sources said a joint team of army’s 32 RR and police had a brief at Watergam, Rafiabad in Sopore.
In the ensuing gunfight, one militant was killed and his body along with one pistol and three grenades were recovered from the site, the officer said, adding that the identity of the slain and group affiliation is being ascertained. He said that the search operation in the area is still going on.
Meanwhile, a policeman was injured on Friday in a grenade attack by militants in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
Police sources said the militants hurled a grenade at the Damhal Hanjipora police station.
“A constable has sustained a minor injury. The area has been cordoned off for searches,” said a police officer.
